Chapters toasts holidays with treats and gifts


Join us for a day filled with holiday shopping, food and cider, book signings and more during Galax's annual Old-Time Appalachian Christmas Festival on Saturday, Dec. 13.


Tumbling Creek Cider Company of Abingdon will be pouring samples noon to 4 p.m. Their ciders showcase our Southwest Virginia heritage and have earned state and regional awards, and a top national designation from USA Today.


Food tastings and hot apple cider will be available throughout the day. Try a sample of our signature Poinsettia cocktail.


Visit with local authors Martha Dobson and Pepper Basham. Autographed books make the most unique personalized gifts.


Dobson will her book and workbook, Be Encouraged, a powerful devotional/bible study with women's testimonies of overcoming obstacles through God's supernatural grace and intervention. Profits from this book and associated merchandise sales go toward building an orphanage/school in Masindi, Uganda.


Basham, an award-winning historical and contemporary romance author, will sign copies of a variety of titles including her newest Regency romance, Sense & Suitability.


Staff will be available to assist with all holiday shopping. Pre-order or reserve this year’s bestselling books or favorite classics to share with family and friends. Chapters, located at 101 E. Grayson St. in downtown Galax, is the area’s only independent bookstore. It’s also a boutique and wine shop, offering a unique selection of clothing, jewelry, wine and beer, specialty foods, and adult and children’s gifts.


Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.
